GUIDE STRIPS

The guide tapes or guide rings, as the name suggests, drive the piston or the rod, avoiding contact between the sliding metal parts and absorbing the radial loads that occur during the use of the hydraulic / pneumatic cylinder. They also reduce the friction between the moving parts. Without the guide strips the metallic contact with the cylinder head can cause deterioration of the entire system.

There are many application fields: presses, machine tools, dry applications, mobile hydraulic applications, injection molding machines, medical applications, pneumatic components and food applications.

The amount of available profiles is considerable: for a correct choice you should always consider parameters like the temperature, the operating pressure, the working speed, the gasket material, the fluids involved, the backlashes, the overall dimensions and the surface roughness.

During assembly of the guide tapes, it is necessary to pay close attention to avoid any cuts and permanent deformations that may damage the functioning.

The choice of the most suitable material depends from the application criticality. The most popular materials include PTFE (virgin, additivated, loaded with glass, bronze, carbon graphite, carbon fiber, molybdenum disulfide), POM, PE and phenolic resin.
